Founded in Boston in 1846, the longevity of our company is a unique asset to which few companies can lay claim. As Treasurer Jody Hoyt put it, “Our longevity means that this company possesses a heritage of resiliency, reliability and a depth of experience that comes not only from good times but from surviving the hard times that result from recessions, depressions wars, fires and floods. This company has endured all of those and today it is stronger than it has ever been in its history.”
Jody said that Hastings’ history is rich with examples of adversity overcome, of challenges met, and goals exceeded. There is no doubt that moving forward, Hastings will continue to rise to the occasion and meet the needs of our customers in a changing marketplace. The key will be, as it has always been, our ability to adapt and stay on the leading edge of the challenges and opportunities that present themselves.
If you would like to learn more about Hastings’ rich legacy, we invite you to read the pages below, from the book A.W. Hastings – An Illustrated History. Written by Marian Calabro, this book covers the history of our company from its founding right up until the last decade.
