Here’s a look at one of the eight New England architects who unveiled their Marvin Window dream designs at ABX in Boston. Today’s Spotlight is on Michael McKinley of Michael McKinley and Associates, LLC. in Stonington, CT.
Michael McKinley drew his inspiration for his dream window from his love of the coast and historical settings. Michael’s description takes you right to the edge of the water: “The gesture of opening the sashes to a sunny salt march, beach and ocean creates an intriguing and memorable image. The color of the sash reminds me of sea glass and I see the natural mahogany frame and trim weathering to driftwood.”
Each architect who designed a Marvin Window was also asked to choose a song that they felt went well with their creation. Michael’s musical selection is his own performance of Vasen’s “Josephin’s Waltz.” In the music world, Michael is known as Skip McKinley and is a very accomplished flutist.
Michael McKinley’s window is a breathtaking combination of mahogany sash painted “Hazy Blue” and casement stained “Driftwood” with Light Antique Zinc hardware. For more window and door inspiration, visit Marvin at 7 Tide.
